Fighting with Gordon Liu was a tough task: Akshay Kumar
Akshay Kumar got to do some heady action sequences in Nikhil Advani's forthcoming 'From Chandni Chowk To China', but the action hero says fighting with Chinese martial arts master Gordon Liu was the toughest part of the film.
Akshay Kumar got to do some heady action sequences in Nikhil Advani's forthcoming 'From Chandni Chowk To China', but the action hero says fighting with Chinese martial arts master Gordon Liu was the toughest part of the film.
'I have watched '36 Chambers of Shaolin' 52 times before doing the film. Doing action for it and fighting with the Chinese masters, particularly Sir Gordon Liu, was the most difficult in the movie,' said Akshay.
Gordon Liu is known for his acts in Hollywood films like the 'Kill Bill' series and the 'Shaolin' series, including '36 Chambers of Shaolin'.
In 'Chandni Chowk to China', Akshay plays a simple cook from Delhi who goes to China to try his luck there.
'Getting into the character was not difficult as I have been a cook in my real life, but shooting for the movie has been a difficult experience,' Akshay told reporters at the film's music release here Tuesday.
'We have shot at the Great Wall of China and shooting there in extreme cold conditions was quite tough,' he said.
The film, which has been shot in China and Bangkok, also stars Deepika Padukone in a double role.
'Playing two different characters was quite challenging for me as they are so contrasting in nature,' said Deepika, who played a double role in her debut film 'Om Shanti Om' as well.
'One is an Indian girl with traditional values and the other a Chinese girl, who is bold and sexy and does a lot of action,' she added.
'I had to go for a complete look change for both the roles, which made things quite difficult for me. Besides, doing an action film with someone like Akshay Kumar is quite challenging,' said Deepika.
Also present at the music launch were director Nikhil Advani and actor Ranvir Shorey.

In this film Big B plays the victim of 'pick pocket designs'. The man who commits the crime has just done his another job but what about the man who loses rupees 10,000.
The movie is about this victim,what problems he goes through after he loses this sum.Big B was seen playing victim before in films like Baghban,Viruddh but as known this time it is going to be different.
The director will start with this film as he is done with his upcoming flick 'Banda Yeh Bindaas Hai' that stars Govinda,Lara Dutta,Tabu, Boman Irani,Vishal Malhotra and Satish Shah.

Exotic locations are fine but what about the language barrier?

he recent shoot of Chandni Chowk to China suffered from a communication gap with the Chinese locals in Shanghai and Beijing.
It took the Indian unit some days to work in harmony with the Chinese unit. Four interpreters were hired to facilitate coordination between the Indian and Chinese units.
Choreographer Pony Verma recalls how they had to first learn to count one to ten in their language. It was not at all easy getting their accent, but after a couple of days, they managed.
The Chinese dancers had to be told time and again that they had to start their steps after the count of four.
It is known from the sources that Verma said, Chinese had never seen a Bollywood unit. It took them as much time to familiarize themselves with the Bollywood form of dance.
Apparently, Akshay Kumar was dressed up as a king and Deepika Padukone as his queen for the song sequence.
The song was shot at various places, like the Forbidden City and Shanghai. Verma says that she would have loved to shoot a portion of the song at the Great Wall of China, but an action sequence for the film had already been scheduled there.

Film 'Lets Dance', produced by Dr Arvind Patel, has moved into post-production. This film is directed by National Award Winning Editor Aarif Sheikh. The unit has just finished its last schedule in Kerala and is back to move into dubbing and editing.
Aarif Sheikh had won national award for editing the film Makadi. Since then Aarif Sheikh has edited films like Maqbool, Taxi 9211, 
Star cast of 'Lets Dance' is Gayatri Patel (Introducing), Aquib Afzal and Ajai Chowdhary along with celebrity child artistes like Abhaas, Paras, Nikunj. Its produced under the banner of Advait Entertainment Pvt. Ltd.
Lets Dance is the film about a girl who gives direction in life to a group of street kids. Young and peppy, she is a dancer who plays catalyst in the story and runs her own dance school. She comes in contact with a bunch of street kids and hence begins a journey that is full of life, drama and fresh sparkle. It carries an underlying sense of social obligation but the story is treated with youthful appeal and feel good factor.

'Victory' starring actors Harman Baweja and Amrita Rao was suppose to release in November this
year got delayed due to several reasons.Now its heard that to adorn the project and make it more profitable for the distributors,the makers of the film are including a profane item number in which Harman's ladylove Priyanka will sizzle.
Its known that the film earlier was facing some hassles with its production and now they are not getting buyers for the film.Reason for this is the recession that has an impact on the industry.
Likewise, the film is backed by 'Adlabs' still it is facing the difficulty in selling it.Harman's debut
'Love Story 2050' did not work well on box-office is also one reason for this trouble.
The distributors have who had shown concern towards the film before have backed out and have agreed to get back to the deal provided a heavy cuts in the price.
Manmohan Shetty one of the producers of the film has insisted the debutant director of the film Ajit Pal to introduce an item number in the movie that will enhance the prospects on the ticket window.
Being a part of this film Harman feels some responsibility towards it so he has requested his girlfriend Priyanka to do an item number for his film and the sweet lady has agreed to it.

Ghajini is about Prashanth Pawar (Amir Khan), a rich businessman who owns a cellular phone company named Air Voice and the events surrounding his relationship with Kalpana (Asin Thottumkal).
Review of Ghajini
Kalpana, an advertisement model goes around telling her advertisement crew that she is the love interest of Prashanth. Kalpana does this in spite of having never met him and also goes to the extent of giving an interview about her relationship to a popular magazine.
Prashanth happens to hear about this through the media and wants to settle scores with her. On his way, he catches a fleeting glimpse of a young woman (who happens to be Kalpana) helping handicapped children to cross a street. It is love at first sight for Prashanth. He moves on to confront Kalpana at her advertisement studio. He is pleasantly surprised to realise that she is the same helpful woman he saw a while ago. He chooses to hide the fact from her that he is Prasad, calling himself as Manohar. Kalpana eventually falls in love with him.
Once, while on a train to Mumbai, Kalpana saves a group of young girls from abuse by a group of goons led by Lakshman (Pradeep Rawat). After a few days, the same goons come to Kalpana's house in order to avenge their embarrassment. Incidentally, Prashanth arrives at the scene and fights off the goons, but during the ensuing fight, Kalpana is murdered. The irony showcased is that Kalpana never finds out that he is Prashanth.
Lakshman then strikes Prashanth on his head severely with a metal rod. Though he survives the blow, but suffers from a short-term amnesia. At any given time, he does not remember anything that happened more than 15 minutes back, although he frequently has flashbacks of Kalpana's murder.
He determines to take revenge on those responsible for Kalpana's death. The rest is how Prasad, along with a medical college student Chitra (Jiah Khan), goes about finding Lakshman and the goons.

Mr.& Mrs. Karan Johar are a happily married couple
but somehow Mrs. Johar (Khushbu Johar) always doubts her husband's fidelity. This reaches the crescendo when one night Karan does not turn up home at all and reaches home early morning. To add fuel to fire Khushbu finds a diamond necklace in Karan's coat pocket, Karan's savior (or he thinks he is) his next-door neighbour Harry, who at every step in the interrogation, lands Karan exasperated: till Karan finds himself landing from the frying pan into the fire.To make things worse Chandani of Chandani Bar comes on the scene to take back her diamond necklace but by this time Khushbu has already left Karan and gone to her mother's house with the necklace in her possession.
Chandani tells Karan that this necklace is not hers but belongs to sharp shooter Shetty who had given it to her for that particular outing.
Bang! Start with a cat and mouse race first to find the necklace second to make Khushbu realize that her necklace is not hers. Last but not the least, to hood wing the insurance company surveyor that Karan was badly hurt in a bus accident. So one lie after another reaches Karan helpless and audience in splits of laughter.

Will ‘Ghajini’ fascinate audiences?
'Ghajini' remake has similar elements that of original will it capitivate audiences?
Film industry is all about creativity where plot, setting, characters etc. together brings about a final output. Some films sets milestones and gain a huge popularity among the audiences while others are average or down the line. The directors often look upon the movies that have set milestones and from there comes a ‘remake’ of the film.
Bollywood has seen remake of successful films like ‘Don’, ‘Karz’, ‘Sholay’, ‘Tajmahal’ etc. The only remake that did well was Farhan Akhtar’s ‘Don’ rest failed to captivate the attention of the audiences. The main reason behind its success was the elements of the film that differed from the original. However, the film was a remake its setting, songs, dialogues more or less possessed originality.
The latest to join in this ‘remake’ list is Aamir Khan’s ‘Ghajini’. This film is remade second time.
It is about a person who has short-term memory loss and is struggling to find his wife’s murderer. Whatever clues he sees, he writes on his body so that he can remember that.
No doubt, the story line of the movie is strong and it did well as ‘Memento’ by Christopher Nolen, ‘Ghajini’ (tamil) by Murugadoss. The question comes in here is why should one watch the same thing repeatedly. The look that actor Guy Pearce carried for ‘Memento’ the same look was copied by Tamil actor Surya and now even Aamir Khan styled himself similarly without any qualms.
Actor Aamir Khan is known for the kind of originality he presents in his films. Will this be justice for his fans if he presents them with something that is done twice before???
