As always Bollywood is trying to cash in on the festive season. Cinefans will get to see some big releases over the next few weeks with movies like Drona, Kidnap, Golmaal Returns and Roadside Romeo lined-up.
This year alone 100s of crores are riding on the months leading to the New Year. All of Bollywood's A-listers including Aamir Khan, Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, Amitabh Bachchan, Sanjay Dutt, Ajay Devgan and Abhishek Bachchan have a release during this period.
Over the years some of the biggest Bollywood hits have opened during this period, including Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, Raja Hindustani, Dil To Pagal Hai and Om Shanti Om, which was the big Diwali release last year. The Farah Khan film ended up raking in over Rs 160 crore at the box-office.
So starting this weekend, filmmakers will be hoping that you carry some of that festive mood over to a theatre near you.
While Abhishek Bachchan's Drona and Imran Khan, Sanjay Dutt starrer Kidnap make an entry on Eid this Friday, Dussehra will have Salman Khan saying Hello to moviegoers.
Meanwhile, an animated Saif and Kareena will try to woo the audience with Roadside Romeo during Diwali.
And that's not all, the run up to Christmas includes biggies like Shah Rukh Khan's Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi and Aamir Khan's Ghajini.
So if you plan to go out shopping for the traditional sweets this festive season, don't forget to reach out for that bag of popcorn too.
